Digital Broadcast – Challenges and Technologies for Mobile TV

A strong market demand in Germany for digital broadcast provides a technology focus on digital TV. The challenge for the infrastructure development is given by this new service that is based on different bearers like DvB-T, DMB and DvB-H.In this presentation a technological state of the art overview of digital TV and an architecture are presented. The success of such a new and complex service depends on a balance of technology, platform & service delivery costs, content aggregation, user experience, end consumer offer and pricing. The latter aspects of service delivery will be discussed for the German market, which is one of the biggest in Europe.An implementation with multi-usable meta-data, generic DRM for fixed and mobile access and automated content aggregation, all based on an universal IP core will be presented. These considerations demonstrate a compelling way to establish digital TV for the next years
